WholeTrees was commissioned to revitalize this interpretive center’s atrium, replacing the existing 26-foot-tall steel column with an engineered structural black willow tree. WholeTrees also designed and built the round timber staircase leading to the atrium’s mezzanine, alongside functional design elements such as slab wood benches, a 15-foot slab wood bar and built-in shelving made from red and white oak, ironwood and American elm.
