The Chrysalis farm house’s branched timber structure was harvested entirely on farm grounds, and skidded to their building site by the resident draft horse. Its straw bale envelope keeps the home warm during the harsh Wisconsin winters. An attached solar greenhouse provides food and heat, while incorporating a greywater filtration system. The Chrysalis house caught national attention and led to WholeTrees being featured in the New York Times Home Section. This attention propelled the company to where it is today.
